8:03 pm - So, Not so much...
|
In spite of what I said earlier... No Ground Control for me.
My head hurts my back hurts and I'm surly. I'm likely to pick a fight with one of the new regulars. I'm better off at home.
Went to IHOP. We were there after the rush. I still took forever to get the bill - like we waited longer for the bill than we actually took to order and eat. Surly number one.
Put together a stationary bike that I bought on Saturday. It was cheap. It had all the parts, but the right pedal doesn't quite attach right. I've got it jimmied in there, so it should be okay. Head ache and backache. Surly number two.
Sorry folks, I am ***way*** too anti-social to be out in public right now. =(
current mood: bitchy

9:41 pm - Thanksgiving
|
So it's a good thing that no one came over today. My turkey was too big for me to handle. Even though the internal temp was high enough, it was still a bit pink. Maybe the thermometer was touching the bone? Anyhow, E and I are just chilling out and watching Eureka on DVD. I had my first ever green been casserole. Usually it's got onions in it, and since I made it this time there are no onions. WooHoo! So I've got some of that and lots of left-over macaroni and cheese.
Everyone is posting their Thankful lists...
I am thankful for friends and family. I am thankful for having a job in this shaky time. I am thankful for having a roof over my head and a great boyfriend to share it with.

6:00 pm - Purple Hair
|
Purple hair seems to be in season around the ol' f-list these days...
A while ago I was playing with the idea of going purple (streaks, anyways) again. It's been at least 10 years since I did any kind of unnatural color. Work always seemed to be against it. Now I have a plain little office job where the atmosphere is laid-back and the dress code is somewhat casual. All my co-workers are painfully normal, and I know for a fact that some of the older salesmen will have trouble with it, but I'm going for it anyway.
Yesterday I had to go over to Hollywood Toy and Costume for costume stuff and I figured I could get dye there as well. They only had a few tubs of red Manic Panic and a very light purple. I want a dark purple so it won't be so shocking at first. Two wig shops and three tattoo places later I still have no dye. You'd think it would be easier to get purple hair dye on Hollywood Blvd! Anyhow, I wound up at Sally and got some DarkViolet hair dye. I plan to bleach out my outgrown undercut and dye that either tomorrow or Thursday. Hopefully I can get my hair light enough.... I think the undercut has only been dyed once. The last time I did any serious bleaching it was after one round of black, so I should be okay. We shall see.
It turns out that Pose-able Spider legs make excellent "bones" for bat wings. That makes my crochet hook very happy. =)

So I was feeling nostalgic, so I Googled some of my old classmates from college. I found this in an old friend's blog... I really miss having regular, daily contact with ppl who not only think this is funny, but also get *why* it's funny. This had me busting a gut...
By the time you get to the 16th century, *major* thirds and sixths are the standard and parallel fourths, fifths and octaves are to be avoided - they're seriously old fashioned. I think Stravinsky would've been burned at the stake with his tri-tones...(augmented fourth/diminished fifth for those of you not in the know).
Yes, my fucking day job is killing me. Someone give me a shitload of money to do music for a living again...
And *OMG!* I am such a music nerd.

Your result for What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test... Conscientious, Fulfilled, and Spiritual28 Renaissance, 11 Islamic, 19 Ukiyo-e, -33 Cubist, -34 Abstract and 4 Impressionist!
The Renaissance was a cultural movement that profoundly affected European intellectual life. Beginning in Italy, and spreading to the rest of Europe by the 16th century, its influence affected literature, philosopy, religion, art, politics, science, and all other aspects of intellectual enquiry. Renaissance artists looked at the human aspect of life in their art. They did not reject religion but tended to look at it in it's purest form to create visions they thought depicted the ideals of religion. Painters of this time had their own style and created works based on morality, religion, and human nature. Many of the paintings depicted what they believed to be the corrupt nature of man. People that like Renaissance paintings like things that are more challenging. They tend to have a high emotional stability. They also tend to be more concientious then average. They have a basic understanding of human nature and therefore are not easily surprised by anything that people may do. They enjoy life and enjoy living. They are very aware of their own mortality but do not dwell on the end but what they are doing in the present. They enjoy learning, but may tend to be a bit more closed minded to new ideas as they feel that the viewpoint they have has been well researched and considered. These people are more old fashioned and not quite as progressive. They enjoy the finer things in life like comfort, a good meal, and homelife. They tend to be more spiritual or religious by nature. They are open to new aesthetic experiences. Take What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test at HelloQuizzy

9:50 pm - Halloweeeeen!
|
|
So I'm about halfway done with my costume and I must say I am rather proud of myself this year. I actually got started with enough time to work out some small details. WooHoo! There's one major thing that I still need to get, but that'll be easier to find when it gets closer to Halloween. Sorry so vague, but I don't want to spoil the surprise! =P And there's always the chance that I'll totally screw it all up and do something easy...

11:37 am - OMG - KDOC, I love you
|
If you get digital channels on your TV, KDOC has the mother of music video channels on 56-3. I just saw Bauhaus, then Joan Jett, and now Nekromantics. How long will this keep up?
What was their show back in the day? Request Hits Live or something... With Richard Blade. Looks like they kept their video library. =)
All right, I can do without the Kid Rock that just can on... But still. Yay!
Edit: *sigh* my little bit of Audio/Visual Heaven was just invaded by Incubus and Cottonmouth Kings. I knew it couldn't last, but at least it's there for all.

5:33 pm - Indy!
|
Just got back from Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. I actually enjoyed it. A lot. For those who haven't seen it yet and for those who thought it was cheesy - just remember how cheesy the other movies' premises were... Priests staying alive by eating beating hearts, The Ark of the Covenant and the effing Holy Grail fer Christ's sakes! =P
Go see it. Yay! =)

So, I go downstairs to do laundry. Both washers and both dryers are used. Gr! OKay, well I'll just load it all into the car and go to the laundromat. Denied! Just as I pulled up the guy came out and waved me away. Argh! I was so happy when I saw the open door. Go to another laundromat and it's closed, too. Get back home and hope that at least one machine has opened up so I can do one load. Nope, now it's backed up. It seems someone has taken out the clean clothes from the washers to wash their own clothes without thinking that those clothes will still have to go through the dryer before their clothes can. Wash is 30 mins, dry is 60 mins. Some of my neighbors are retards. And my clothes are dirty.
That funny smell at Ground Control tonight is prolly me. Fabreze to the rescue?

Oh man! Those palm trees sure are pretty. Except when they're blowing through your apartment complex. Yikes! If I find some batteries before they're all cleaned up I'll post pics.
